The Tucson PHEV gives you the option to fill up your tank at the pump or plug into a charger to prepare for the day ahead. Its electric motor works together with a 13.8-kilowatt battery that charges in under two hours when you use the onboard plug. When paired with its 1.6-liter turbo gas engine, the powertrain is expected to deliver 261 horsepower, an estimated efficiency of 70 MPGe, and an all-electric driving range of about 32 miles.*
This powerful green partnership means that the Tucson PHEV SUV can tow up to 2,000 pounds when properly equipped, making it ideal for those weekend getaways. But the PHEV isn’t the only green option in the Tucson line. You can get a standard hybrid model for the 2022 model year, too.

The Hyundai Tucson will get an exciting redesign, new powertrain options, and more for the 2022 model year. Set go to on sale in the U.S. around summer 2021, the 2022 Tucson will arrive on our shores after a boom in its popularity over the last few years.
With sharp cuts, a new angular look, and a new grille, the
exterior of the Tucson is the most noticeable change in the new generation.
Inside the Tucson you’ll find a more spacious interior with a standard 8-inch
infotainment touch screen. You can also update to an available 10.3-inch screen
and a separate instrument cluster screen.
The new Tucson will offer three new powertrain options,
including a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder at 178 horsepower, and a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder
hybridized engine that puts out a total of 229 horsepower. The Tucson will also
offer a plug-in hybrid powertrain that lets you drive on electric-only power
for a certain number of miles before switching back to gas.
Hyundai will also equip the new Tucson with high-tech
amenities like Hyundai Digital Key, which lets you lock and unlock your Tucson
and start or turn off the engine from your phone. There’s also the car-to-home
system that allows you can control your smart home appliances.
