2021 Hyundai Sonata Features New Wheels and Safety Technologies

Although the updates for the 2021 model year of the Hyundai Sonata are minimal thanks to the model’s overhaul in 2020, the new features are noteworthy. New wheels offer a bolder exterior design and enhanced performance while advanced safety tech helps safeguard your journey.

The 2021 Hyundai Sonata features 19-inch alloy wheels, which are perfectly paired to 245/40 R19 Pirelli P Zero™ tires. Standard on the SEL Plus trim, the new wheel-tire combination optimizes performance, grip, and noise cancellation no matter the season.

The Safe Exit Warning system, a standard feature on trims above the SE level, will warn you and your passengers of dangers as you get out of the Sonata. Under proper conditions, you’ll hear an audible warning and see a visual alert if oncoming traffic threatens your safety. The system works in tandem with the model’s blind-spot warning system.

Your passenger can adjust the height of their seat with the touch of a button in the Limited trim of the 2021 Sonata.

The 2021 Sonata is available at four trim levels — SE, SEL, SEL Plus and Limited — just like the 2020 model. You can still choose between two Smartstream gas powertrains to fuel your 2021 Sonata.

2020 Hyundai Sonata Updates Increase Style and Value

For the 2020 model year, Hyundai set out to completely redesign the Sonata into a striking, fun-to-drive sedan with luxurious touches that would make higher-priced sedans blush. The all-new Sonata is stylish, affordable, and capable.

Style

The all-new Sonata was formed inside and out to be a joy to look at. The curvaceous exterior updates are a preview of the ergonomically designed interior. The dashboard is adorned with an available 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen that makes controlling the sedan’s settings a walk in the park, while four simple buttons appear in lieu of a shifter to streamline the driving experience.

Value

The 2020 Sonata looks and drives like it belongs in the high-end luxury class, but is predicted to be just as affordable as the rest of Hyundai’s lineup. Premium safety and convenience features like key fob-controlled backup for ease of entry and exit when parking boost the Sonata’s value.

Capable

The Sonata’s 1.6-liter engine is estimated to reach 60 mph in 7.3 seconds and offers 180 horsepower. The Sonata delivers 195 lb-ft of torque, and features an automatic eight-speed transmission.
