Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Kona Bring Home KBB.com Awards

If you’re shopping for a new or used car, you know that the guides at Kelley Blue Book are essential research tools. This year, the Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Kona – both the traditional and electric versions – got the revered publication’s stamp of approval at the 2020 Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards.

“It is an honor to receive Kelley Blue Book Best Buy Awards for the Kona, Kona Electric and Santa Fe, demonstrating Hyundai’s commitment to developing a range of product offerings that deliver great customer value,” said Mike O’Brien, vice president, product, corporate and digital planning for Hyundai Motor America.

Considering that the Hyundai Santa Fe is the brand’s best-selling SUV in the U.S., it’s not surprising that it has fans in the media. It drove home with the award for Best 2-Row Midsize SUV. The newer Hyundai Kona won in the Best Subcompact SUV category, and the 2020 Kona Electric conquered the general Best Electric Car segment.

It’s not easy to win a KBB.com award. The site’s team tests vehicles over a year period, watches customer reviews, and examines its signature 5-Year Cost to Own numbers to determine which new models are the best choice for American drivers. At the beginning of the process, analysts were looking at more than 300 cars, and then they narrowed the list down to a few dozen options before choosing the final Best Buys for 16 segments.

Hyundai Tops Industry with Highest Customer Loyalty Rating

How many companies, let alone automakers, can claim they have the highest customer loyalty in their respective industries? Not many, and even fewer can claim that title for the 10 consecutive years. But Hyundai can.

The customer loyalty rankings come from the Brand Keys Customer Loyalty Engagement Index. In 2018, the survey evaluated responses from more than 50,000 consumers.

“Brand engagement and loyalty has seen seismic shifts in the last decade with political and social movements taking place,” said Robert Passikoff, president of Brand Keys, following the 2018 study. “The fact that Hyundai has been able to remain the leading automaker for these metrics is a testament to their efforts to constantly engage with its customers.”

Hyundai cites its dedication to a vehicle lineup that meets customer needs, technological innovations, and eco-friendly offerings as primary reasons for its high customer loyalty ratings. New models, like the Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid, offer drivers the latest in safety, infotainment, and efficiency.

“With ever increasing competition, Hyundai continues to exceed customer expectations with our line-up of vehicles,” said Dean Evans, CMO, Hyundai Motor America.

Hyundai isn’t slowing down when it comes to innovation and expanding its lineup either. The 2019 Hyundai Kona is one of the automaker’s newest vehicles. It won the 2019 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year™ award, a clear indicator of the automaker’s dedication to consumers.

2019 Hyundai Kona Electric Shown at New York International Auto Show

The 2019 Hyundai Kona Electric appeared at the New York International Auto Show at the beginning of April, and Hyundai revealed a wealth of new information about this upcoming EV. The Kona Electric will go on sale at the end of the year, and with incredible projected electric range and a splash debut of the Hyundai Kona, it’s already generating plenty of buzz.

Hyundai Kona Electric

The Kona, Hyundai’s addition to the subcompact crossover market, is new for the 2018 model year, so the electric version will be an especially big hit with drivers who want a small, ecofriendly option that’s perfect for driving in cities.

According to Hyundai, the Kona Electric will have a range of 250 miles. That would make it the first electric car to triumph over the Chevy Bolt; the Bolt previously held the title of longest-range EV after beating out Tesla when it debuted last year.

Hyundai was able to achieve this incredibly high electric range by building a larger, more energy-dense battery with closely packed cell modules and using liquid battery cooling to keep the cells at the right temperature. With a new motor and power electronics, the Kona Electric introduces unique technology to the world of electric vehicles.
