Hyundai offers drivers a diverse, high-quality lineup of vehicles, and the brand has earned its fair share of accolades over the years. Recently, Hyundai added two more titles to its trophy cabinet — two Car and Driver Editors’ Choice awards.
The winning vehicles are the Hyundai Ioniq and the Hyundai Accent, which took home the top spots in the Hybrid and Subcompact segments, respectively.
The Hyundai Accent was recognized by editors at Car and Driver for its distinctive design and style, as well as interior comfort, quality materials, and great fuel economy.
The Hyundai Ioniq stood out from other hybrids in its segment with three cutting-edge powertrains that deliver best-in-class efficiency. In addition to the standard hybrid model, the Hyundai Ioniq is available in electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains.
Mike O’Brien, the vice president of Hyundai Motor America’s Product, Corporate, and Digital Planning division, expressed gratitude for Hyundai’s honors, saying, “Car and Driver is one of the most trusted names in automotive journalism and we’re honored to have the Ioniq and Accent included in their Editors’ Choice Picks.”
The winners of the Car and Driver Editors’ Choice awards were determined through rigorous testing, track performance, and other in-depth criteria, proving that the Hyundai Accent and Ioniq are standouts in their classes.
It’s no surprise that the crossover segment has been at the top of the auto industry for a few years now, with solo drivers and families alike flocking to the class for its seamless combination of capability, reliability, and style. And with more and more effort going into technological innovations, a new electric crossover was bound to make its way to the market eventually. Hyundai recently announced plans to bring the Kona Electric, an EV variant of the brand’s popular Kona nameplate, to Europe.
Electric crossovers and SUVs are on the itinerary for several automakers, though most brands are projecting the release of said vehicles to fall somewhere between 2020 and 2025. But Hyundai is ahead of the curve – with the Hyundai Kona Electric hitting European roads soon, it’s only a matter of time until the EV model makes its way to U.S. shores, as well as around the rest of the globe.
Because the Hyundai Kona is already a compact crossover, many of its fans are already drivers looking for the spaciousness and versatility of an SUV combined with the fuel economy of the compact class. With a new electric crossover on the way, Hyundai is giving drivers the option of an even more fuel-efficient crossover.

Making a New Year resolution isn’t easy, and keeping it isn’t any easier. Fortunately, achieving your 2018 goal is possible if you take the right steps. Here are a few ways to keep your 2018 New Year Resolutions from your friends at Tipton Hyundai.
Launching a full scale assault on your resolution, whether you want to stop smoking or become more social, increases the odds of failure. Instead, create a concrete plan to achieve your New Year resolution. After all, you have all year. Start small and take each step slowly to push yourself across the finish line.
Talk to others
Whether your goal is to lose weight or kick a bad habit, one of the best ways to achieve your goal is to talk to others about it. Talk to family and friends about your resolution or join a support group, like a workout class. Doing so will encourage you to fully commit yourself to achieving your 2018 New Year resolution.
Ask for help
One thing many people don’t like to do is ask for help with their New Year resolution. There’s nothing wrong with asking for help now and then, and a major life change will likely require support from others. Feeling overwhelmed and stressed out by your 2018 New Year resolution will only increase the odds of failure. If you need help, ask a close friend or family member.
From all of us at Tipton Hyundai, we hope you have a productive and healthy start to the new year.
At Tipton Hyundai, we love to show our appreciation to our customers. That is why every Tuesday is Ladies Day at Tipton Hyundai.
For just $29.95, our Hyundai Service Lane will give your car an oil and filter change, a multi-point inspection, a fluid top-off, and a thorough exterior wash. You can pick up your car knowing it’s been well-cared for, and you’ll feel like you’re stepping into a newer vehicle.
By getting regular oil changes, you can help prolong the life of your car. Your car’s oil helps keep everything cool and lubricated in the engine. It also helps clean out sludge and other particles from your engine. Clean oil can also maintain your car’s excellent fuel efficiency.
Your vehicle’s oil change needs depends on the model, so consult your owner’s manual for a more specific maintenance schedule. The industry standard for oil changes has long been every three months or 3,000 miles. However, your Hyundai may not need an oil change that often.
If your car is having problems, or if you’re just ready for your regular maintenance visit, schedule a Tuesday appointment at Tipton Hyundai to take advantage of our Ladies Day special.
There’s nothing spookier than Beggar’s Night. If your kids are going out to trick or treat this year, use these Halloween safety tips from Tipton Hyundai to keep everyone safe and comfortable.
Before the big night, check everyone’s costumes for length. If a costume hangs below the ankles, consider hemming it to avoid potential tripping. Also make sure your children’s costumes are accompanied by comfortable shoes – no parent wants to carry their kid from house to house for trick-or-treat.
Skip the Mask
Masks can be uncomfortable or even make it difficult for your child to breathe after a period of time. Opt for safe face paint instead, or cut a mask to make sure that it leaves plenty of room for the mouth and nose – just make sure the mask won’t impair their vision, either.
Stay Well Lit
If your kids have dark-colored costumes, consider having them wear a reflective vest or reflective materials of some type. You want to be sure that each pedestrian is visible to drivers. If your child doesn’t want to add a vest to their costume, have them carry a flashlight to keep them in sight.
Check the Candy
Don’t let your kids dive into their candy stash before you have a chance to check it. Look for any candy that seems to have been tampered with, has tears or punctures in the wrapper, or looks suspicious in any way.
At Tipton Hyundai, we hope you have a safe Halloween!

Over the years, as in-vehicle safety tech becomes more advanced and innovative, the IIHS has raised their standards, making it harder for automobiles to achieve the coveted Top Safety Pick+ rating.
In order to obtain it, vehicles have to score top marks in every crash test category while having available crash avoidance technology and good quality headlights. For the 2018 model year, the Hyundai Sonata managed to pass the IIHS tests with flying colors and attain the Top Safety Pick+ title.
The Sonata also was also equipped with the optional automatic emergency braking system and high-quality headlights. This is the second time the Hyundai Sonata has managed to grab the Top Safety Pick+ rating, following the 2016 model year.
The 2018 Hyundai Sonata’s Top Safety Pick+ safety rating makes it a great choice for a family sedan. If you’re interested, stop by Tipton Hyundai for an up close and personal look at the Hyundai Sonata and its new, top-of-the-line safety technology.
